Tokyo Stroll Supplement: Pilgrimages in Tokyo and the Kantō Region

Pilgrimages take place in many locations in Tokyo and the surrounding Kantō Region. This guide is organized by type of pilgrimage. Over time it shall grow to cover many routes. Some are done on certain days, some years round. It is not unusual for an individual to do part of a larger route over a series of trips rather than all at once.
Commonly a pilgrim will gather a record of the pilgrimage with seals printed on an object. These can be on or in a variety of objects. A few common ones are:

  • A fukue, a paper print which shall be stamped at each location.
  • A shikishi, a square white board, each location will add calligraphy and the stamp.
  • A goshuin stamped in your goshuinchō, this of course can be done at any time of the year if the shrine or temple has an office with someone on hand.

  • Haneda Shichifuku Inari Meguri / Haneda Seven Lucky Inari Pilgrimage

Seven Lucky Gods Pilgrimages in the greater Tokyo area.
